Makes 8 servings.
Fresh Apple Cake
INGREDIENTS
2 cups Mott’s® Fresh apples, peeled (optional), cored, and chopped
1 cup white sugar
1/3 cup butter
1 egg
1/4 cup milk
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 pinch of salt
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
raw sugar (optional)
PREPARATION
Preheat oven to 350ºF. Grease a 9-inch cast iron skillet.
Combine flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon together in medium bowl; mix well and set aside.
In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add the egg, milk, and vanilla; beat well. Add the four mixture and mix well. Fold in chopped apples and nuts.
Pour batter into greased 9-inch cast iron skillet. Sprinkle with granulated sugar or raw sugar. Bake for 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean.
